Who are Mech-V?

Mech-V is an Irish-owned and Irish-based Inspection and Technical Consultancy for the Wind Energy Sector. We are industry-experienced engineers who provide continued inspection and technical services to the sector across the island for both on and offshore assets.

Although based in Ireland we also operate overseas for clients who have distributed assets within their portfolio.

We are a completely independent provider of inspection services meaning we are unaffiliated with owners, operators and wind turbine manufacturers. This ensures our findings are completely impartial.

Steve

Steve is a Mechanical Engineer and co-founder of Mech-V Limited with over a decade of experience in the Wind Energy Sector and with prior experience in the Construction, Marine and Oil and Gas industries.

Steve has a keen understanding of machine design, maintenance and operation and is a veteran in main component failure investigations, SCADA projects and technical due diligence projects.

Of the years spent in the Renewable Sector he has had excellent exposure to a wide range of renewable and OEM technologies and with this has amassed a great deal of technical knowledge across different wind turbine platforms both On and Off-shore.

Bob

Bob is an EASA B1 licensed aircraft engineer and co-founder of Mech-V. He has spent 15 years working in the aviation sector and is an expert in electromechanical equipment and control systems. Bob is a highly technical engineer and has a very broad knowledge base. He holds qualifications in both mechanical and electrical disciplines.

Bob is an experienced manager of technical projects, safety-critical infrastructure and in the management of teams. His years in the industry have solidified both his engineering and management skills.

He also has extensive experience managing inspection & examination programmes for critical systems.

GWO Certified

All our engineers hold Global Wind Organisation (GWO) certification and are fully trained to the standards demanded by the wind industry sector.

Ireland Based

Our Operations are based in Ireland. This allows us to service clients in the Irish Wind Sector without the complications of travel and mobilisation from overseas. As we are an Irish-owned and operated business we understand the regulatory, health and safety, certification and insurance requirements on the island and are therefore compliant in these areas.

Mech-V brings long-term and sustainable technical expertise to the Irish Wind Sector. We also bring flexible and efficient inspection and technical services.

Full HSSE Management System in Place

Mech-V conducts its business and operations according to a comprehensive set of HSSE systems. The core principles of our organisation are to mitigate risk through comprehensive risk assessment and by maintaining high levels of education and training for our personnel.

Our HSSE have undergone comprehensive wind power safety management training accredited through the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and are well versed in risk management principles used within the renewables power sector. Read more about our HSSE management system here.

IAA/EASA Certified

Mech-V is a certified company under the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operations in the Specific Category. Mech-V were the first company in Ireland to achieve this stringent authorisation level. All our Pilots are trained to the highest standards and are experienced in UAV flight operations in and around wind turbines.

Our Drone Capability

We fly cutting-edge DJI enterprise-level inspection drones. These drones are capable of safely inspecting high-value assets at a stand-off range. This is due to their stabilised optically zoomed high-resolution cameras. They also feature a thermal camera to see what the naked eye cannot.
